I have been in the financial planning profession ever since I graduated from Texas Tech University with a

Financial Planning Degree a very long time ago. I took the CFP Certification Examination when I was twenty-two years old, became a CFP certificant when I was twenty-five, and have never regretted it. I started my career as a financial planner in Dallas, TX and helped a sole practitioner build up a lifestyle firm. 

I have always had a passion for helping people enter the financial planning profession and succeed in

their careers. I co-founded New Planner Recruiting, LLC, a recruiting firm that assists financial planning

firms hire the right people and new financial planners find great entry level positions. We work with job

seekers and firm owners virtually and across the country and we see a lot that firms are doing well and

not so well.

I am the host of the New Planner Podcast and still work with a select number of clients at a financial planning firm. I also teach the Practice Management Course in the University of Georgia’s Financial Planning Program which positions me to see things from the firm owners, career seeker, and college professor’s standpoint and I love it! 

Financial planning is the only thing I have ever done and I am grateful to be a part of such a wonderful profession that has provided so many opportunities to help people. 

Part of what drives me is to replenish and build up the ranks of financial planners to ensure the

profession can meet the demand for financial planning advice required by consumers in the future. I am

interested in anything that furthers this mission which is why Planning Zoo is a such a great fit. The

Planning Zoo program closes the training gap to enable a new/recent college graduate to begin adding

value much more quickly to an independent financial planning firm.

I was born and raised in Texas, but now reside in Athens, GA along with my spouse and two kids.
